Kelly Hunt announces Season 2 of her collaborative performance series “The SongCraft Sessions,” hosted by The Rino and sponsored by Kissick Construction. Each session features a different local or touring songwriter and begins with a brief introduction and interview of the guest artist followed by a set of their original material. The guest artist then joins Kelly (and on occasion, Kelly’s tour partner Staś Heaney) for a collaborative set.

This season’s third session features Willi Carlisle. Willi is a poet and a folk singer for the people. Like his hero Utah Phillips, Carlisle's extraordinary gift for turning a phrase isn't about high falutin' pontificatin'; it's about looking out for one another and connecting through our shared human condition. Though Carlisle's poetic words evoke the mystical American storytelling of Whitman, Sandburg, and e e cummings, ultimately this is bonafide populist folk music in the tradition of cowboys, frontier fiddlers, and tall-tale tellers.
